CIARÁN (n) [KEER-ehn]
a funny little British bloke; you probably met him at a con one time

Much to his amusement, he’s been compared in the past to David Bowie, Tony Stark, Joan Jett, Ramona Flowers, Gerard Way, and Tank Girl – but I.R.L., we all know him as Ciarán James Strange, an eccentric and powerful LGBTQ+ artist who blends pop sensibilities, dynamic rock guitars, and high-energy live shows into his own brand of geeky pop-punk. At seventeen, he left his family, friends, and little English fishing village behind in order to chase his dreams to Vancouver, BC, where he now resides indulging in his passion for many different facets of performance including music, writing, voice-acting, acting, vlogging, and pro-wrestling.

Always standing firmly as a voice for the different, discarded, and disenfranchised, Ciarán has always taken steps to remain as open as possible with his fans about his mental health, encouraging them to be aware of their own. He works to ensure he is open, outspoken, and passionate in his beliefs; some of the causes he fights hard to support include LGBTQ+/SAGA issues and rights, feminism, autism awareness, racial equality, refugee and immigrant rights, many forms of mental health and suicide awareness, and more.

Ciarán came out publicly as “genderfluid” in 2014 with the release of the Tear Down The Wall music video. After discovering more about his own gender identity struggles whilst working with the cast and crew of The Switch (the world’s first transgender sitcom), he finally decided to change his pronouns from “she” to “he” in 2016 to be more aligned with his own gender identity, also adopting the “transgender” label.

Hot on the heels of his past releases – Adamantine Heart (2012) and Last Hero Standing (2015) – the redheaded, bedheaded geek toured multiple countries including the U.S., the U.K., Canada, and Japan, performing at hundreds of shows, conventions, and festivals. Sometime in the summer of 2016, Ciarán joined forces with kindred artistic spirit Dave Kitsberg – a Twitch streamer, techy nerd, and convention guest veteran of eleven years who has performed with the likes of Lemon Demon, Spoony Bards, Time Crash, Arc Impulse, and even voice-acting sweetheart Caitlin Glass!

Together with other creatively harmonious folk such as bassist Alex August (Spoony Bards, Arc Impulse) and also percussionists Arnell Damasco (SixOneForte) and Toph Lawrence (Bitforce), Ciarán and Dave are delving into the world of geeky covers and parodies, as well as writing fresh original concept material in all sub-genres of pop-rock influenced by many of their collaborative fandom inspirations. This cache of new music the pair are working tirelessly on is set to be released later in 2018 under the band name WE ARE THE CHAOS!

Musical ventures aside, the multi-media artist has been swept up in the release of his first full-length novel: the primary book in a M/M (male/male) P.N.R. (paranormal romance) series of action thriller novels with political aspects. This 110,000-word first instalment, Black Tie by Ciarán Strange, is available now in both eBook and paperback forms on Amazon, and from Ciarán’s merch booth at conventions.

At conventions and events, you’ll often find Ciarán (and sometimes his band) flanked by some familiar faces you know from his team: Kit Watson, his long-time friend and co-manager; Wade Gawler, his British bro and the head of his street team; and A. Jinnie McManus, renowned agent and cupcake queen.
